The Planning & Development department is responsible for municipal and
intermunicipal planning projects, area structure plans, lake management plans, the
Land Use By-Law, subdivision, development and safety codes.
When planning to develop in the County, such
as construct a new building, add onto an existing building or property, start a
business or install a business advertising sign, you may require a development
Permit as well as building, plumbing, gas, private
sewage disposal system and electrical permits.
Should your development project be for
non-intensive agricultural purposes only, in most cases you will not require
either a building permit or development permit.
To determine whether your development will
require a development permit and/or building permit, please contact the Planning
& Development Department at (780) 955-3555, extension 3235 or
3236.
