located in Leduc County is
a
key
component of
Alberta's International Region, western Canada's largest
business and industrial park, which has grown from 2,200 acres
to over 6,000 acres in the last 5 years.

enjoys a stable and sustainable economy, with 65% of its
businesses working internationally.

accommodates over 500 diverse businesses employing 14,000
highly skilled trades and professional workers.

Industrial Park is home to more than 200 companies serving
our Oil and gas Industry, and more specifically 30 drilling
and pipeline companies.

Business Park is adjacent to Edmonton’s International
Airport and includes two of Alberta’s major highways as
transportation routes. As well, a busy rail connects
Nisku Business Park with the rest of Alberta, Canada and
North America.

2004 was
another year of rapid expansion in the region, with the
value of developments in
Alberta's
International Region reaching a high of $125.5 million.

Founded in 1988, the Leduc-Nisku Economic Development
Authority (EDA) is a joint venture of the City of Leduc and
Leduc County. Our mission is "to maintain and enhance the
area as a good place in which to live and do business."
Our mandate is "to promote the development of a strong and
diversified economic base within the City of Leduc and Leduc
County."

Formed
in 1976, the Nisku Business Association provides a unified voice for
businesses in the Nisku Industrial Park and surrounding area.
Managed by a volunteer Board of Directors, the NBA has successfully
taken action on matters such as: property taxes, road improvements,
police and fire protection, postal services and utility rates.
The NBA promotes Nisku Industrial Park through business and social
functions, publications and projects. In addition to these advantages,
the NBA also offers its members an Association Group Benefits program.
The Nisku Business Association is a Registered Non-Profit Society in
the Province of Alberta.
The
Wabamun and Area Community Exposure and Health Effects
Assessment Program (WACEHEAP)
was developed to look at various
air contaminants people are exposed to in this area and to
examine health conditions that may be related to these
exposures.
The activities of
the program are being overseen by a Steering
Committee whose members include representatives
from Capital Health, Alberta Environment, Health
Canada, Paul First Nation, Leduc County,
Parkland County, Village of Wabamun, West
Central Airshed, Lake Wabamun Enhancement and
Protection Association, Mewassin Community
Action Council, EPCOR and TransAlta Utilities.
